Emily's Birthday Party Invitations

Okay, so my darling but high maintenance daughter informed me that she wants a costume party for her birthday. Well, I thought I'd put Lily by Pink Cat Studio dressed as a princess on the front of the invitations. But I worried that that would be too girly for the little boys on her list. Emily came up with the perfect solution--she was happy with the princess idea for the girls, but wanted a cowboy for the boys. Luckily I own almost all of the Billy and Lily stamps, so I was able to handle that without buying anything new--yay me! However, I'd already printed out all the card bases on Gable Green CS. It's retiring this year so I'm trying to use up my stash. The girls' invites have Pixie Pink layers, which is perfect with the GG. Anyway, I wasn't about to waste all those card bases, hence the unconventional color of cowboy attire on Billy. I also thought the Billy card looked better without the DP (you could make out the barbed wire accent--done with Cricut cartridge Old West--much better), but everyone else liked it better with. Stamp is from PTI's Anniversary set Round and Round. On the inside of the card I printed the details in "A Yummy Apology"--a great free font perfect for a little girl's party. Other colors used on this card are Taken with Teal, Green Galore, Pumpkin Pie, and cool Caribbean. As always, Blush Blossom is my go-to ink for Caucasian flesh tones, of course that's being discontinued too, and Barely Banana for his hair. I added the freckles with a marker. Image is stamped on watercolor paper with Palette Noir ink and watercolored. I learned something--if you color with markers on wc paper instead of regular CS, you get MUCH better results. I never used my markers much, but I'll use them more now--I guess you really do learn something new every day! Unfortunately I forgot to take a pic of the little girl version of this invite before I mailed them all off. Maybe I can borrow one later and get a pic--they were really cute! Thanks for stopping by!
