New Color Coach Combo

I got my new SU goodies last week and had to play with my new colors. I got the Marina Mist ribbon, so I started with that color on my new Color Coach. It recommended Cajun Craze, also new, and Crumb Cake, formerly known as kraft. I inked up the flower image from Upsy Daisy in CC ink and attempted the rock and roll technique with CC. It didn't come out quite as I'd hoped but I guess it's okay. Layers are cut with my beloved Cricut. I'm warming up to this whole kraft thing, slowly but surely. I'm not sure I'm so crazy about Marina Mist though. It's just not what I was expecting. But I like this card okay. Hope you do too!

Farewell Card for a Quilter

My DH's boss is leaving for a new job in Maryland. I asked if he wanted a card for her and he did; well, it turns out she is a quilter, so of course I had the perfect set--PTI's Quilter's Sampler and QS Additions! I used my new SU color coach to decide on a color combo. I went to Real Red and came up with Bashful Blue and Crumb Cake, their version of Kraft. Since I only have a small amount of CC, I decided to go with Gina K's heavy base weight Luxury Kraft. It was already out, because I'd made another card with it, which I will post in a couple of days. I used the Textured BB, some gingham DP trimmed with the SU scalloped border punch, and PTI's white for the image. Layer is RR, cut with Nesties. I used markers and blender pens to color the quilt blocks, and I paper pieced the bottom left square. If you click on the photo to enlarge it, you may be able to tell. I added some retired SU buttons with DMC floss to match the BB. I stamped the sentiment and the scissors, needle and thread on the inside. Brad liked it and I hope his boss will too. Boy Birthday Card

Matt is going to a sleepover birthday party tonight, so he needed a card. He and all his friends are into guitar playing now, so he wanted a guitar themed card. This card is a case of one in the book Card Making with Cricut. I used old Basic Grey paper and die cut tags and the Indie Art cartridge. Paper is stamped with SU Extreme Elements and Inkadinkadoo Rock Star. The inside says Happy Birthday Rock Star (the HB part being from PTI's Birthday Basics) and has a pocket for a gift card. I love how this card turned out! It was so fun to make too!

This weekend is the opening of the movie "Beezus and Ramona." I read all the Beverly Cleary books when I was a girl, and I've been reading them to Emily recently. I can't wait to see the movie--the previews look great and it got a good review. I'm hoping to take Emily this weekend sometime. Anyone else have any great plans this weekend? Altered "Tea" Tins

This is actually a Crystal Light container. I really like the shape of their new containers, and we drink a lot of the Ruby Red flavor. I started by covering the container with PTI Tea Leaves paper. I don't have any of their tea sets, but I do have their second anniversary set, Everyday Classics, which has this lovely teacup image in it. I stamped it in Ripe Avocado Hybrid ink on white, followed by the teabag in Palette Noir. I stamped the teabag again on Aqua Mist CS and cut it out, popped up on foam tape. I used Nesties to cut out the AM scalloped circle, the Mat Stack Die # 1 from PTI for the Ripe Avo. layer which I also Cuttlebugged with Swiss Dots. I added silver brads and a tag, also cut with Nesties. The "Just for You" is from the first Christmas tag set PTI did. I used Sticky Strip to attach the retired SU ribbon to the rim of the lid (which is covered on top with more tea leaves paper) and ran some DMC floss through the tag and ribbon. Finally I added the RA scallop border (SU punch) at the bottom because I thought it needed a little something. I hope the people who get my tins enjoy them. Thanks for looking!

Altered Frame

This project is for an altered art swap I'm in over on SCS hosted by my friend Jen. I used a retired SU set that I love called Sketches. I also wanted to use watercolor paper and the brayered sky technique. I really like the effect of the brayered sky on the watercolor paper. I stamped my image in Palette Burnt Umber and masked it, then ripped a piece of scrap paper and used one half to mask the bottom while I brayered the sky (colors: Blush Blossom, Bordering Blue, Brocade Blue, and Not Quite Navy), and then used the other piece to mask the sky to brayer the sand (Sahara Sand). I used my Aqua Painter to water color the woman. Background is some retired SU paper that I love, Timeworn. I used some burlap ribbon from and shells from Mike's floral dept. I made my own rubon with Grafix Rub Onz; you can read all about them here. This turned out to be more trouble than it was worth as I could have just printed it on the kraft CS, but my original plan was to put it on my image or the BG paper. Anyway, I do like the way it turned out. Frame is from Wal-mart. I was going to use the glass but the shells stick out a bit too far. I really had fun making this. Card for my Matt

This is a card I made to send my son at Boy Scout Camp. I used the new Wildlife Cricut Lite cartridge. I've been experimenting with Michelle Zindorf's brayered sky technique. Here I used Bashful Blue, Ballet Blue, and Brilliant Blue. I stamped the trees from SU's Lovely as a Tree set in Handsome Hunter. Hawk is cut at 2 inches, out of Gina K CS (I forget the color name, Pumpkin Spice maybe?) and SU white. I colored the beak yellow and sponged with brown ink. It's layered on Handsome Hunter with a PTI white card base. I think he'll like this card, and it was very quick to make. My brayered skies need work though! Thanks for looking!

Birthday Fishes

This is a card I made with the ZooBalloo Cricut Cartridge. I cut the card feature at 4.25" followed by various layers. The base layer is Cuttlebugged with the Tiny Bubbles folder. Colors are Only Orange, Cool Caribbean, and Tempting Turquoise. Sentiment inside reads "birthday fishes" from PTI's Pond Life Additions. This was so much fun to make! Thanks for looking!
