PTI Christmas Card Swap

My friend Jen is hosting a swap over on SCS for all the usual PTI addicts. I joined the Christmas card and sympathy card categories. I'm still toying with the stocking stuffer category, but I'm going to have to make a decision soon, and it doesn't lok like it's going to happen. I still have to do the sympathy card. Anyway, here is my entry for the Christmas slot.
I used the new Love Lives Here: Holidays stamp set and dies, and also the Christmas Label set and die. I found THIS neat sketch over on the CAS blog and it was just what I wanted for this card. All CS, ink, and DP are PTI (Ripe Avocado and Pure Poppy). Gold brads and cord are SU. I embossed the angel in gold. That turned out to be a bit of a pain--I don't recommend it. Too many pieces parts to deal with. Angel and label are popped up on foam tape. Sent is also embossed. I'm fairly pleased with how this turned out. I hope the other swappers like it--they are such a talented bunch that the bar is pretty high.

Thanks for dropping in today. Have a good one!

Baby cards for the shelter

Some of y'all may know my friend Chris (you can visit her awesome blog HERE). She sells cards that she makes and donates the money to her local animal shelter. Recently she was in need of some baby cards, so I decided to make a few. Here they are: Stamps (Bitty Baby Blessings), buttons and ribbon are by PTI; CS, ink, and DP are Stampin' Up!
This second card uses a Mojo Monday sketch.

I forget where this sketch is from--it may be Mojo Monday. Oh, and the DP and CS on this one are PTI. Three measly cards--sorry Chris, the kids' schedules are kicking my behind this year! Anyway, I hope they help a wee bit. Thanks for stopping by today!

Thanksgiving Decor

Lauren over at MTME came out with several beautiful cut files during her last release, including poinsettias, holly, and these lovely autumn leaves. I imported the leaf files into SCAL and used my Cricut to cut them out of various patterned paper, mostly PTI, but the colorful leaf pattern is from last year's SU. I distressed the leaves with Soft Suede ink. Emily helped me, so some of them were a little more "distressed" than I might have made them, but I think it turned out pretty cool anyway. The brown leaves I sponged with Champagne Shimmer paint from SU. I liked the effect so much I sponged all the leaves with it! I hot glued the leaves to a grapevine wreath from Mike's. I cut out the "Happy Thanksgiving" from the Wild Card Cartridge at 10.5 " (fit to length), after first using a Cricut marker to outline to words, then sponged it with the shimmer paint--love that stuff! I had planned to add a bow, but after I got it finished, I wasn't so sure it needed one. Emily thinks it does though, and so in a bit we'll go to Mike's and see what they have in the way of autumn wired ribbon. If I add one I'll probably remove the cluster of leaves above and to the left of the sentiment and put the bow there.

Here is a detail shot of the leaves. Hopefully you can see a bit of the shimmer. I really had fun making this, and it was nice to have Ems helping me. I hope you have enjoyed this project! Have a great day!

PTI Swap Christmas Card

This is my Christmas card for this round of the PTI swap. Ccard base is Ripe Avocado. Focal image is from Christmas Tags 2008. I colored it with markers (Old Olive, Real Red, and Chocolate Chip), stamped it on SU Whisper White, and stamped the mouse again so I could cut him out and pop him up. I'm happy to see PTI is offering a BG stamp with "Twas the Night Before Christmas" on it this next release. That will be a must-have for me. I punched it out with my 1.75" circle punch and used a nestie for the scallop circle in Pure Poppy. I stamped the script BG from Background Basics Text Style in Ripe Avo on Whisper White and sponged with Chocolate Chip Ink, then layered onto PTI Dark Chocolate CS. Over that is PTI DP. I then zig-zag stitched these layers together, layered the ribbon and tag over that and mounted it to the base. Sent. is from Signature Christmas in Ripe Avo with red button and olive DMC. Thanks for looking!

Teacher Gifts

Well, it's that time of year again--teacher gift time! A month or so ago my women's group at church had a "bead party". The organization is called Bead for Life, and you can check out their website HERE. African women make jewelry out of paper beads and are able to support their families in this way. Anyway, these lovely bracelets were only $5 apiece, so each of the kids' female teachers got one. The male teachers got gift cards from Lowe's, my imagination failed me with them. But of course I had to package the bracelets in a cute little template from My Time Made Easy. This one is called Under Cover. Using my Sure Cuts A Lot I reduced the template size to 75 % and it is a perfect size for the bracelets. Main body of box is So Saffron, cover is retired DP by SU, tag is Nesties and "thanks" stamp is from Mega Mixed Messages by PTI.

Here is a pic of one of the bracelets and the little brochure that tells about the organization. All the bracelets are different, I figure their teachers can swap if they get a color they don't like. I made 9 of these guys in about 3 hours--I love SCAL! Hope everyone is doing well and stamping up a storm. Have a great day.

INspired Crafter Saturday Scrapbook Sketch #2

Here is my take on this week's Inspired Crafter's scrapbook sketch. I had this great pic of Matt and Emily that I wanted to use but I was stumped about the colors. The pink in Em's hat was obvious, but I was having trouble with Matt's coat. Finally I thought about the Basic Grey Eskimo Kisses I bought a couple weeks ago. It looked pretty good so I went with it. Title and shapes are from Cricut Winter Wonderland cartridge. Stamps used are Technique Tuesday and PTI. CS is Baja Breeze, Wild Wasabi, Cranberry Crisp, Pretty in Pink, and white. Ink is Baja Breeze. Hope you like it--Can't wait to see what everyone else came up with!

PTI Regular Card Swap

Hi, here is my contribution to this round of the PTI card swap over on SCS, found HERE. Since it's due Feb 1 I went with a Valentine theme. Card base is Raspberry Fizz. Stamp set is Borders and Corners Hearts, ink is RF and Sweet Blush. White layer is Cuttlebug'ed with Swiss Dots, DP is old SU, ribbon is from my stash, I think it originally came from Mike's. Punches are Marvy and SU scallop border punch. Tiny buttons are from my stash. Thanks for looking!
