March PTI Blog Hop

Well, it's time for the PTI blog hop again, you can find out all about it HERE. The challenge for this month was to use a background set to make a card. This is what I came up with.

I just love this vine image from Beyond Basic Borders, and I love this color combo, Vintage Cream, Dark Chocolate, and Melon Berry. The button is from my stash, border punch is SU, all other products are PTI. Sentiment is Out on a Limb Revised.
I had a great time making this card--can't wait to see all the other great creations! Thanks for stopping by!

Couple of Cards

I know I haven't posted for awhile. I've been busy with work etc. I made this card a few days ago--had to play with my new Parisian Breeze textured designer paper, and my new Oval All set from SU. This paper is GORGEOUS!!! This layout was from the Mojo Monday 78 sketch, and the BG layout was inspired by atomicbutterfly, aka Kelly Lunceford. You can see her card HERE. She had sewing on her card, but I was too lazy to drag out the sewing machine! I love her style, she is the most amazing stamper. Stamp sets are Garden Silhouettes (retired) and Oval All, available April 1 in the Occasions mini catalog. Colors are Chocolate Chip, Baja Breeze, and Whisper White, ribbon and pewter HP hardware are retired SU, button is from my stash.

This card I actually made about a month ago (as you can tell by the subject matter) and just never got uploaded, to tell you the truth I'm just not that crazy about it. But it is what it is. Stamp sets are Branch Out and Best Wishes and More. Colors are Basic Gray, Kiwi Kiss, Whisper White, and Baja Breeze. Snowflakes and greeting are embossed in white. Round Kiwi rhinestone brad in the center of one of the Felt Flurries.

Thanks for stopping by--happy stamping!

Cards from others

I got a card from my PTI Secret Sister today! It is so cute, I love this whimsical tree images and the colors. It is a 4 1/4" square card. I really like this size! I need to get some envies that will fit so I can make some. This wonderful woman also included some adorable mushroom images (below).
You can check out the new PTI swap going on now HERE!

I love these little mushroom houses! I can't wait to make some cards with these!

This last card is a Valentine's day card from my real sister, Linda, who lives in TX, and was stamping before stamping was cool. She used to send me the best care packages when I was in college--sometimes they had rubber stamps in them! I love the way she combined 4 different sets here, yet they look like they were meant to be together! I also love the DP she used (I was with her when she bought it!) and the grass at the bottom.

Thanks for stopping by today! Have a great weekend. I am taking the 11pm-4am shift at the middle school lock-in at the church tonight--yikes!

SCA3C15--3rd post for today--Scroll down!

This card is for Sara's Perfect Match color challenge--see it here. I cheated a bit--The only black is the stamped outline of the boat and the sentiment! And I used Ripe Avocado and Ocean Tides in addition to the challenge colors (Aqua Mist, Spring Rain, and True Black). Also I don't have Spring Rain, so I used Bashful Blue. Sorry Sara! I hope it still counts! Anyway, as soon as I saw this vine image in Beyond Basic Borders, I thought of kelp! So I stamped that and the fish and bubbles from Pond Life, trimmed top with my wave scissors, stamped and cut out boat from Bitty Baby Blessings, and added the sentiment from Pond Life Sentiments. I inked the crests of the waves with SU Craft White. I got the fish going in opposite directions by stamping them upside down, filling in the eyes with a blender pen and OT ink, and using my white gel pen to make eyes in the appropriate spot. I am just so dog-gone proud of myself I can't stand it! Seriously this card makes me happy and I would use it for my PTI swap if it had any embellies on it. So far I haven't figured out how to add any--it really isn't an embellie kind of card. I'll give it some thought. All suggestions are welcome!

Mojo 77--2nd post today--scroll down!

This is my entry for Mojo Monday. It's kind of plain, but you don't want a lot of frills on a boy card. I compensated with some Hodgepodge Hardware. CS is Whisper White, Kiwi Kiss and Pacific Point, DP is Scenic Route. Ink is Stazon Black, Kiwi Kiss, Pacific Point, Baja Breeze, Tangerine Tango, Blush Blossom, Barely Banana, More Mustard. Freckles are dotted on with a Chocolate Chip marker.

Thanks for looking!

CPS 106

I have been having a lot of fun today! I have been stamping and scrapbooking. This card is for CPS 106--see it here. I used Whisper White, Kiwi Kiss and Cool Caribbean (by mistake--I grabbed it instead of Baja Breeze, but I really like the color combo) CS. Ink is Versamark, Stazon Black, Kiwi Kiss, Baja Breeze, Pacific Point and Real Red. Image is water colored. BG is made using the Swirly Sizzix die. Sentiment is embossed with black EP. There is glitter on the rim of the glass--don't think you can see it.

I also made a scrapbook page using this layout, will upload that tomorrow. Thanks for stopping by!

52 Weeks--52 Sketches # 9

Hi, everyone, hope you are having a good weekend! Chris has been doing great things with the 52 Weeks--52 Sketches, so I thought I'd give it a try. The whole reason I got into stamping in the first place was to scrapbook, but since we moved I haven't done much of it. Sorry for the terrible pic! The light was going. This was a really fun and easy sketch. And I had the perfect picture! Anyone remember the card and gift I made for Kate, Emily's friend? Well Kate's mom sent me this when she sent a thank-you note. They were watching a clown named "Soapy", who, Emily informs me, is married! Imagine that--he's not a clown all the time! Anyway, everything here is SU except flower is from Maya Road, coated with Doodlebug Design glitter. Colors are Apricot Appeal, Purely Pomegranate, Tempting Turquoise. Center of flower is a Build a Brad. Journalling reads, "I love this photo--there is such joy and delight on your face, and that row of toothless first-grade faces! This was taken at your friend Kate's birthday party. February 2009."

Me and 52 Weeks--52 Sketches. This could be the beginning of a beautiful friendship!

Getting Sentimental--Flourishes Contest!

Hi, everyone! There is a contest going on over at Flourishes, and you don't even have to own any Flourishes stamps to play, which is great, because I don't, even though I love Flourishes stamps. Check out the contest here! I found out about it from Latisha's blog. Latisha is one of our regular PTI swappers, PLUS she is on the design team for Flourishes stamps. Thanks for the heads up Latisha! It is called "Getting Sentimental". You are supposed to make your sentiment your focal point. This is a really neat thing to do, especially with all the amazing background papers that are out there now.

Well, as you may have noticed by now, I love color and lots of it! The brighter the better! One of my fave color combos is blue and orange--electrifying! Energizing! And that's what I need most days--I am such a slug! This first card I wanted a masculine tone for. All products are SU except brads, which are Bazzill. The DP is retired I think it is called Jersey Shore. Colors are Pumpkin Pie, Brilliant Blue, and Wild Wasabi.

This next card couldn't be more different--very soft and feminine. I had actually had this BG piece lying around for some time--just hadn't used it for anything. Thought it would be perfect for this contest. I chalked the embossed flowers (Cuttlebug), embossed the greeting on vellum, and covered my glue dots with buttons! CS is Stampers Select White from PTI, Pink Pirouette and Vellum CS from SU. Ribbon is SU, buttons are from my stash, fiber is good old DMC.

This card I made a couple days ago for my brother's birthday. He is in Iraq. Again with the blue and orange! This time I used Kiwi Kiss, Pacific Point, and Tangerine Tango, along with some old Scenic Route DP that matches those colors really well. I used an old Mojo Monday sketch for the layout. Since SU doesn't make markers in their In Colors, I had to cut and paste these images to get them multicolored. First I stamped "B is for Birthday" in Kiwi, then Pacific, then Tangerine. Cut out the "b" and layered it over the kiwi image, then punched out the asterisk from the tangerine and layered it over the "b". Did the same with the party hats. For the circle I used my Marvy punch, then attached the punched scallop circle to a strip of CS to put it back in the punch, lining up the scallops with the points of the punch, that way you get a pinked circle--more masculine I think. I think this card sort of fits with the Getting Sentimental theme of the contest.
Thanks for stopping by! Don't forget to stamp today!

Mojo Monday Sketch #76--and Contest!

Mojo Monday always provides great sketches, and this one is no exception! Also, they are having a contest, so get yourself over to the Mojo Monday Blog and check it out!

For this card I used all PTI products except for the rhinestones (HL or Mike's), Basic Black CS (SU), ticket corner punch (SU) and the Crystal Effects (SU) I used to shine up the ladybug and glue on the bling. Colors are Raspberry Fizz and Palette Noir, set is Little Lady, which I haven't used in a very long time, but I thought it would be neat for this sketch. Ribbon is True Black Swiss Dot.

I am finding these sketches really fun, so you'll probably be seeing a lot more of them. Thanks for stopping by!

Stampin' Up! Thoughts and Prayers

I love this new set by Stampin' Up! It has two beautiful images--this tree and a flower stem--and several sentiments that are appropriate for sympathy cards or thinking of you cards. I used Sahara Sand and Certainly Celery Markers to color the tree, and Bashful Blue for the sent. The CS is Bashful Blue, Certainly Celery, Sahara Sand and Whisper White. DP is from the SAB mini catalog, it's called Delicate Dots. I used jumbo eyelets in pewter and hemp. I was thinking along the lines of a masculine card, but the colors may make it too girly still. Hope you're having a great day--thanks for stopping by!

What inspires you?

What inspires you? I am often inspired by things I see every day--billboards, magazine ads, but especially clothing. The colors you see in clothing I often would never put together on my own. This card is inspired by a pair of my daughter's leggings. They are striped in the exact colors and pattern of this card. Once I had the BG piece done, then I wondered, "What the heck am I going to do with this?" So, I went on a quest for sketches. Here is what I found: Jen Del Muro's Sketch for You to Try. This is an older one, from Feb. 21. To tell you the truth, this card is fairly far out of my comfort zone--not sure if I really like it or not. Maybe sometimes what's good for little girls' leggings is not so good for cards? Anyway, CS is all PTI except for the green (SU's retired Wild Wasabi--I could have used PTI's New Leaf if I'd had it, but at the time, my order had not yet arrived.), Aqua Mist, Sweet Blush, Dark Chocolate, Lavender Moon, Raspberry Fizz. Ink is PTI's Rasp. Fizz and SU's White Craft. Ribbon is retired SU Wild Wasabi. Label is made from Spellbinder's die. Sets are Women of Life and Borders and Corners Hearts. And of course, would any card be complete without my fave CB folder, Birds and Swirls? Scallop border punch is SU. Thanks for stopping by!

CPS105, SCA3C14

Well, ladies, I have been extremely busy over the last week! Saturday was my SU group's Stamp Camp. We had 60 people and they made 6 projects: 3 cards, 1 bag-in-a-box, 1 adorable pic frame, and a miniaturized version of the cocoa to go box. I will be uploading pix of those later, but first...if you ever want to stamp but can't seem to find your mojo, a sketch and/or color combo challenge is a great way to get moving again! Here I have combined CPS 105 from Card Positioning Systems and SCA3C14, from Sara's Creative Adventures. I also played with my new sets from PTI--Tags for Spring (bird) and Beyond Basic Borders (tree and sent). Sara's color challenge was to use New Leaf, Ripe Avocado, and Spring Moss. I don't have Spring Moss, so I used one of my all time fave colors, SU's Certainly Celery. I used the Birds and Swirls cuttlebug embossing folder, and my new Making Memories slot punch tool. Ribbon is New Leaf Satin and ink is New Leaf and Summer Sunrise. Hope you've enjoyed this--why not give these sketches a try?
